Join a Global Birding Moment — Right from Aransas County

February 13 - February 16

From backyards and neighborhood parks to trails, docks, and waterways, Aransas County is proud to take part in the Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC)—a worldwide community science event that invites people of all ages and experience levels to observe and share the birds they see.

Participation is simple and flexible. Individuals are encouraged to spend at least 15 minutes observing birds on one or more days during the event period. Observations may be identified and recorded using beginner-friendly tools such as Merlin Bird ID or eBird, contributing valuable data to a global effort that supports bird research and conservation.

Coordinated by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology in collaboration with national and international partners, the Great Backyard Bird Count connects local observations to global science, demonstrating how everyday experiences in nature help expand understanding of bird populations and habitats worldwide.
