St. Charles Bay Boat Launch

St. Charles Bay Boat Launch AKA Lamar Navigation District Dock  – Located on the East side of Lamar Beach road on Lamar Peninsula just South of Fourth Street, this site affords access to the West side of St. Charles Bay for fishing and birding. Located just off shore are shell reefs that attract birds and fish. The Aransas County Navigation District owns and manages this site and is willing to make a special access point for kayakers. Adequate parking is in place. Fishing just off the South end of the launch is a pier that has a shell reef 30

Port Bay Road

Resident Species – Roadrunner, Cardinal, Seaside Sparrow, Clapper Rail, White-tailed Hawk Spring Species – Cassin’s Sparrow, Upland Sandpiper, American Golden-Plover Winter Species – Vermillion Flycatcher Port Bay Road From Cape Velero, follow FM 1069 approximately 2.2 miles to Port Bay Road. Port Bay Road is 1.2 miles long. The road is paved for the first .6 mile. The road continues for another .5 mile after the pavement ends. This part is caliche. If it has rained, the road develops ruts. This road passes through dry grassy shrub with a salt marsh at the end of the road. This is private

Shell Ridge Road North

SHELL RIDGE NORTH This site is located at the East corner of Shell Ridge Road and Church Street. There is some off road parking available which may be able to be improved depending on ownership of the land in this area. The shallow waters of Aransas Bay can be accessed from here and there are shell reefs just off shore that attract fish and birds. Wind direction is the key to using this site. Either calm winds or winds from the North or East are a must.
